ABOUT
Helen Cooley is a classically-trained harpist performing throughout West Texas, including Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene, Marathon, Marfa, and Lajitas. With nearly two decades of performance experience, Helen is skilled in crafting a unique and elegant musical touch for weddings, dinners, receptions, corporate events, and other special occasions.
She has performed as guest principal harpist with the West Texas Symphony, Abilene Christian University, and Civic Orchestra of Abilene. Previous engagements include the First Baptist Dallas Orchestra, Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra, New River Valley Orchestra, and University of Texas Permian Basin Philharmonic.
From 2005 to 2009, she was a member of the Roanoke Youth Harp Ensemble. Since 2006, Helen has performed with two of her sisters in the Cooley Sisters Harp Trio. The trio performs for church services, weddings, dinners, and other special events. They have also released two CDs: Hymns for the Harp & Soul (2011) and The Cooley Sisters - A Christmas Album (2014). In 2018, 2019, and 2020, the trio was honored to perform at the White House during the Christmas season.
She has been privileged to be under the tutelage of Anastasia Jellison, Joan Holland, Mary Louise Hallauer, and Virginia Bethune.
Helen earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Florida.
